Hey hey,
Lots of deep tech stuff popping up this week - from robotics, to hypersonic aircraft, to frontier AI research. The tech is so cool, and I am always in awe of the people who can actually build stuff like this.
It’s times like these that I can’t help but ask myself: why, why, why did I not study engineering? Or more specifically, what the hell did I think I was going to do with a Sociology and Spanish degree?
But hey, getting to build the teams of people who do this stuff is pretty cool, too 😉

(First!) Head of Recruiting at Blue Energy in Philadelphia or Washington DC.
Series A company building nuclear power plants to provide reliable, clean energy. Their method involves adopting practices from other industries (like offshore oil and shipyard manufacturing) to make the cost and timeline for developing nuclear plants significantly lower than what it is today. This is probably one of the most elusive startups in Europe, and one that people are very excited about. Don’t worry, I googled ‘high-mix’ for you: basically, manufacturing that is made-to-order rather than producing massive amounts of identical pieces.
